Cini Handmade Plate

Cini plates are a type of traditional Turkish pottery that are known for their intricate designs and bright colors. They are typically made by hand using a combination of techniques, including painting, engraving, and glazing. The designs on Cini plates often feature geometric patterns, floral motifs, and calligraphy, and are inspired by the art and architecture of the Ottoman Empire. They are often used for decoration or for serving food, and are considered valuable collector's items.

The history of Turkish Cini plates dates back to the Ottoman Empire, where the art of pottery was highly valued and developed. The first Cini plates were made in the 16th century, in Iznik, a city in western Turkey, where it was known for its ceramic production and the quality of its pottery was highly appreciated by the Ottoman court. Cini plates were mainly produced for the palace and for the wealthy people as well.

During the 16th and 17th centuries, the designs on Cini plates became increasingly sophisticated and intricate, with the use of a wide variety of colors, including cobalt blue, turquoise, and green. These plates were considered luxury goods and were exported to other parts of the Ottoman Empire and to Europe. However, by the 18th century, the demand for Cini plates had declined and the production of these plates almost came to an end.

But in the 20th century, there was a renewed interest in traditional Turkish pottery, and Cini plates were once again being produced, using many of the same techniques and designs as in the past. Today, Cini plates are considered valuable collector's items and are highly sought after by art lovers and collectors.
